She loved and respected her parents for always teaching her to be her best self! She loved her friends whether they were new friends or old especially if they were older than her. Once you got into Resa's heart you were there forever. Resa always said laughter is the best medicine, unless you have cancer where chemo seems to be more effective.

Now the sad part. Resa left us after a long hard fight with cancer. Her mind was still racing but her body just couldn't keep up. She offered this world so much and was taken way too soon. We know that Resa will always be with us in spirit and she leaves a huge hole that will never be filled. We will do our best to live up to the standard she set - living life to the fullest.

Thank you Resa - for everything. We love you long time. Elizabeth Ann Catholic Church, W. No reception will take place after Funeral Mass. You saw beauty and even softness in her form. You saw grace and elegance in her movement. You could sense a pleasant, but subtle fragrance in her personality.

Like the rose which survives the wet and dry, and the hot and cold of life, you could feel strength in the stem of her being, which survived even times of difficulty. Sometimes as with the thorn of a rose, you could even experience the sharp prick of her opinions and determination.

She was essentially Texan. She was born on an oil tank farm which her father managed. The place was near the historic Parker settlement where Cynthia Ann Parker was reared whose life with the Comanche became a Texas legend. The weather the day mother was born was typically and unpredictable Texan. She was born at home during a sudden late February ice storm. When she worked in offices the younger women would approach her for advice and support.

I know this as they told me so. She raised two sons and had substantial interaction with her step daughter and her many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her extended family of many cousins was dear to her. Her talents were not only domestic, but also musical, social, administrative and highly organized. She spent many years working as an administrative assistant with Industrial Property Corporation.

The owner was Mr. John Stemmons, a larger than life Texas personality, after whom the freeway is named. She was made a shareholder and member of the company. She spent many hours to help design and produce a pictorial history of that company for one of their major anniversaries. Mother was very dedicated to her husband, Dr. James Keith Baker, who served our local community primarily in the development of Southern Methodist University during a career of several decades.

When he was afflicted with Parkinson Disease she was at his side most every day, all day, until he passed from us. She was a baptized person of Christian faith with an innate sense of the providence of God. The untimely death of her father, her elder son and other relatives was a difficult thing for her to bear.

However, if she happened along a little baby, or small animal, her demeanor became joyful. She could also be a supportive listener with a good sense of humor, and great deal of common sense. She was in every season of her life a Texas rose, both beautiful and strong.

She is survived by her son the Rev. Bruce Bradley of Plano, Texas and her stepdaughter Ann Baker Barber of Parker, Texas, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and a host of cousins and extended family. Our hockey and skating communities have been strong partners to us throughout the years, and we have worked hard over the last few months to find an alternative way to keep the facility open.

Unfortunately, that solution has not emerged. In recent years, Ice-Plex has operated at a substantial loss. These are complex and energy-intensive systems, and the cost of design and install is prohibitively high. When compounded with the financial impacts of forced closure due to COVID, we cannot make these investments. First and foremost, we want to assure all teams, hockey players, figure skaters, public skaters, and all other customers, that they will receive a full refund for all programming that was scheduled to occur at the Ice-Plex facility.

Refunds will be issued immediately through our platform, Square. The Ice-Plex has been an integral part of the community since its opening in In recent months we have worked to identify alternative energy options and new equipment for the rink. We brought in engineers and other experts, but the cost of an overhaul is more than we can commit to. We turned to others in the community, including rink operators, investors and hockey organizations, offering a five-year, no-cost lease to a qualified operator who could make the necessary investments in equipment.

We engaged in promising conversations, but ultimately, a solution did not emerge. We love ice sports and share their disappointment. It is unfortunate that the impacts of COVID are reaching beyond hospital walls, tipping fragile operations like ours over the edge.

We close our doors with a heavy heart and would like to extend our deepest thanks to our athletes, customers, staff and volunteers, who have been responsible for creating a welcome and competitive environment at Ice-Plex. You have brought joy to our lives. Your dedication to sport, community and individual achievement will not end with Ice-Plex.

QUEEN MARY STAKES ASCOT BETTING

Our team ESV Kaufburen was hit hard by the virus — we had 14 players, my assistant coach and our GM all test positive. Our entire team went into quarantine for 14 days. We will start practice again on November 30 and begin playing games on December 4. Wanted to let you know that our team was really pro active and was being very careful. On a good note we want to say Happy Thanksgiving to all in Las Vegas. JP RIP.

Ash is flying in from Michigan to be with her hockey family in Las Vegas. Her hockey brother Cody Printzen now lives in California. Ash is the 1 goal scorer among all Las Vegas players away from home this season. Going to my parents house with my brother and our girlfriends.

We love to cook. Get the process going a couple of days before Thanksgiving Day. Cook and eat all day. Have football on and fall asleep on the couch. Jimmy is now living and working in Austin, Texas. Our daughter Mary Catherine, husband Jay and grandchildren Ryan and Leah are bringing Thanksgiving dinner to our place.

All of our children like to read so Lee got Barnes and Nobles gift cards for all of our grandchildren. My best to all hockey coaches and players in Las Vegas. Harris will be coming home this Wednesday to celebrate Thanksgiving Day. The state of Connecticut has shut down youth sports until at least December 7 but more likely until January He blasted up and down the ice creating opportunities for his team in a great hometown win. Hunter has 6 goals, 11 assists this season.

The game was played here at the Fogarty Ice House in Blaine. Game will begin pm local time. Outside the arena during the game it will be chilly with rain showers. Going into this game Oklahoma City is and a division leader; El Paso has played a limited number of games and is Outside the arena during the game it will be chilly with a chance of rain showers. He has scored hundreds of goals in his career but he says one particular goal is the most special of all.

Nick, who is now a super scout and top assistant coach with Anthony Greener of the UNLV Rebels nationally ranked ice hockey team, started out his hockey career in roller hockey. We went onto a power play and Alex Yug fed me a great pass in the slot area for a quick one-timer on the blocker side. Looking back this was always one of my all-time favorite tournaments in the sport of roller hockey.

Regarding the previous mention here about the T-Birds going away from home this weekend to take on the Fresno Monsters — the Monsters announced the State of California has shut down the Gateway Ice Arena in Fresno. All USA hockey teams — no matter where or what level — are in a total scramble right now. No games until further notice. Jersey 96 is the most famous jersey of all in Las Vegas. He was the UNLV captain two seasons, co-captain two seasons. Think about this — Anthony Greener played on the top line on every single game he skated for with the Rebels.

It is amazing Greener is even skating because of the way he went out of the game — checked brutally hard when he was down on the ice while playing against Long Beach State in a road game a few seasons ago. It was a totally unfair hard devastating hit to shut down one one of the greatest most driven and exciting players in Las Vegas hockey history.

One is framed and hanging on the south wall at the Sobe now Pepsi Ice Arena. Greener said the best Rebels top line he was ever on was with giant goal scorer Josh Jasek and Scott Rensmon. Another line we liked was playing with Sam Braniff and Robbie Silvernail. We had a few great top line combinations and coach Rob Pallin was always good finding the right lines and not really messing with them during a season.

As a result Arturo has been troubled with a very bad back injury and is wearing a neck brace. But sometimes for an all-heart hockey player like Arturo the will to play is too much. Where is 96 Anthony Greener now? Arrangements for John Paul will soon be announced by the family. The Rebels play their home games at the City National Arena …. We are looking for the whereabouts of Matthew Gross of Las Vegas.

That would have been a great opportunity to show family and friends how far we have come along. But that is what we are dealing with this season. It was the first win of the season for Luke who had 12 wins for the Sheridan Hawks last winter. Outside the arena during this game it was very cold in the degree area.

Oklahoma City raised its season record to Outside the arena during the game it was very cold — down to 39 degrees — with a red-alert high wind gust warning. This was an ultra heated rough game with a couple of roughing double minor penalities followed by four Unsportmanlike minute penalties including one for boarding.

Aidan has one goal, three assists this season. The T-Birds are off to an awesome start this season. It was his first goal this season. He has 1 goal, 3 assists. Escondido, Calif. This was not an easy decision.

Nate has 9 goals, 13 assists for 22 points and is ranked at 14 in the league. The T-Birds have taken apart two previous teams in league games but their first utra-heated game may be this one. It is already November and our hockey season is in full swing. It is still hard for me to believe I have been out of Las Vegas for 16 months now.

I still feel very connected to my adopted home for the previous 7 years. The connections I made in the hockey community will undoubtedly stick with me for the rest of my life. To know that my boys learned to skate at City National and the Fiesta is a privilege.

Now, with a 7 year old and a precocious 4 year old, I navigate the waters of 8U Mites games twice a week. With my husband deployed, I now must get both kids ready and on the ice by myself. There are multiple changes to this season, including our travel to other cities for Mites Jamborees, which have all been cancelled for the season in the Carolinas.

Instead, we play against the Plex House teams each week, with fun results. Lucas age 7 scored his first game goal this week on Tuesday. He has struggled with his stick and puck skills in the past year, but finally had a breakaway opportunity to score. The best part was a parent captured the moment on video, which we could send to dad to see in the Middle East. Little brother Blake age 4 decided to try his skills between the pipes in 2 games.

He had a shutout his first game, earning him player of the week honors. The second game was against the development team, and he allowed 7 goals for his first loss. No matter where he plays or what the score, Blake has the best time. Seeing hockey from their perspective, I am reminded that the best parts of this crazy year are to see the world the way a child does.

To celebrate the small victories, make new friends, and to encourage each other to be their very best are the keys to staying positive. Believe me, it is so easy to get frustrated or depressed, especially the way things have developed this year. But, as my kids remind me, as long as we have hockey and fun, everything will be ok. Look on the bright side of every situation, you just might see something good happening without realizing it. Bethany Drysdale is a star reporter here on Vegas Hockey.

Coach Rob was working on his second cup. Yes, one of the greatest ever coaches from Las Vegas, said he was excited to be with his new European team which includes two familiar players — John Lammers and Tyler Spurgeon — who played for coach Rob on previous pro teams.

It was the very first bigtime electrying goal-scoring line in Vegas history. Which soon attracted, for the first time, large excited bell-ringing crowds to watch that team take on the L. This was the first Las Vegas 18u team ever to have a winning record. And Spike — he was all heart and soul. And how did Pallin raise the compete level of that team and many others here in Las Vegas.

The great hockey writer Gregg Drinnan in Canada put together this insightful list when hockey leagues plan to begin their seasons. Richie Crossley, a premier defenseman when he played tier hockey here in Las Vegas, will again drive the VGK Zamboni before games and between periods during the home games at the T-Mobile Arena this coming regular season.

He played the last three seasons with the Cardiff Devils. He held the scoring title nationwide for about five years. We moved to Las Vegas because my folks thought roller rinks would do well here in town. That roller team — the Las Vegas Rolling Thunder — was an unstoppable force on a national level. Micah Sanford had many great coaches starting with his father Larry in roller hockey. Brad Buetow was the head coach.

Brad was a former head coach at the Minnesota University and Colorado College hockey programs. To get to Vail, Colorado, Micah packed up his gear in his pickup truck, then he drove back to the Crystal Palace roller rink where he grew up in Las Vegas. There was a group of younger players and hometown hockey moms and dads who were there and who wished him well and watched him drive off on North Rancho Drive.

Micah was the first to leave Las Vegas to play the game and it was big news in the world of hometown hockey. When Micah was at Chilliwack he told Vegashockey. But Brad Buetow was the best coach I ever had at running a practice and teaching skills. Chilliwack finished the regular season with a record of Micah, on the top line, led the team with 47 goals. He was 19 years old. His linemates and best rink friends were Kaleb Betts with 35 goals and Matt Gibbons with 28 goals.

Gabe had 37 goals that season for Chilliwack. Micah always played on top lines. Micah was now in his second season with Chilliwack and suddenly — and no one, including him — knows how and why Micah Sanford began scoring so many goals in the playoffs.

When he was interviewed by me at Vegashockey. I cannot explain it. It was a close, tight game, right down to the final buzzer at the Halifax Forum. When the game was over — and maybe it was the pressure of winning so many times — the Chiefs players collapsed onto the ice in all parts of the arena. They were trying to describe and capture in their own words the final time this great Chilliwacks Chiefs team would ever be on the ice.

Micah scored 31 goals during the playoffs. For the season he had 78 goals, 80 assists — by far the most goal and assists and points by any Las Vegas skater on any level of the game. Micah was a big part of it. Micah got a scholarship to play at Nebraska-Omaha. Lammers was an Assistant Captain for two of his seasons in Innsbruck. This past season he had 14 goals, 16 assists. He is from Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada. Great stick skills, shoots the puck extremely well and he is a very intelligent player. Most important, he is a great teammate.

Always puts the team first. He never takes any shortcuts. Lammers has an average of 48 points in the Austrian Elite the past six seasons. And he always seems to win those faceoffs whenever we need them the most. He leads by example. As a coach we like to teach. Tyler is the kind of player you want to fire up and lead your team against the best teams — home or away — on game nights. Then Eddie came home and was on of greatest most respected teachers of the game with teams including the LA Jr Kings and those in Las Vegas. First off, I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy with their families during this challenging time. With the ever-changing situation we are all facing, the BC Hockey League has committed to providing regular updates to our fans, team staff, players and their families. We continue to have discussions with Hockey Canada and the CJHL every two weeks to reassess the COVID situation and how to best move forward under the guidelines of our provincial health authorities.

Although there is no set timeline at this moment, we expect to have a clearer picture of where things are headed later this month. As many of you already know, the League has reached out to the Provincial Government for advice on how to access economic support to offset the losses that our teams are facing due to the cancellation of the playoffs, as well as spring and summer camps.

These discussions have been positive so far and are ongoing. This call for financial support has also, unfortunately, led to some talk at various levels that the BC Hockey League is somehow in danger of not returning next season. This is entirely false. The idea behind our call for financial support is to address the losses that our teams have incurred before they become a major problem down the road. Like everyone else, we eagerly await the day that we can return to the ice in a safe manner.

We hope to see everyone back on the ice as soon as possible and we will be working with Hockey Canada to make a return to play safe for our players and fans. The WSHL was one of the first sports organizations, on March 6th, to modify its operating procedures, schedule, and preparations for playoffs. The playoff schedule to begin on March 12 was amended, removing two Washington State teams from playoffs, due to the extreme surge of COVID patients in the greater Seattle area. At the time, many fans, pundits, parents, players, and team representatives, alike, were utterly appalled by the decision.

Subsequent to the initial decision by the Executive Committee of the WSHL, with concern for an abundance of caution for the safety of our players, staff, fans, families, etc. The majority of the variables which impact our sport and participation are still in effect, and will continue to be for an indefinite period of time. Additionally, the logistics of operation, in uncertain times, is an unfathomable task for each team to undertake, as well as at a league level.

The obvious potential liability for team owners in the face of COVID requires significant consideration. Currently, across Canada and the United States, very few ice rinks are open, and tryouts cannot be held.

Even if they were open, the tryout would be minimized due to the governmental restrictions over crowd control. Nonetheless teams need to continue to recruit, which creates payroll and expenses, without any assured knowledge that the season will start on-time, or start at all. Given the current status of closed borders, it would seem optimistic, at best, to project that the required number of players, for Summer Tryout Camps or Fall Training Camps, would be able to lawfully attend.

As important is the very recent announcements by several universities and colleges, even minor pro leagues that likely they will not participate in the season either which impacts the players advancing to higher levels without recruiting being done at the higher levels. Lastly, with the current governmental restrictions that have slowed the economy, and put millions out of work in both Canada and the United States, teams become extremely vulnerable. Operating in this financial climate could easily result in failure, based on potential losses or inability to generate ticket sales, sponsorship or advertising dollars, etc.

The aforementioned revenue streams are crucial to the success and sustainability of WSHL member clubs, and junior hockey clubs around the globe. On the grounds that, currently, there is no known vaccine, accompanied by extremely negative medical conditions, economic pitfalls, and the forecast of a resurgence of COVID, which could again be cause to terminate the season, the WSHL, with an abundance of caution, must make an extremely difficult decision.

Based on the above reasons, and forecasted medical problems that could be ahead of us, the Board of Governors of the Western States Hockey League have voted to go dormant for the season. The WSHL will immediately start preparing for a return in season. This is the most burdensome and painful decision ever made at the WSHL Board of Governors level, however, we strongly feel that continuing operations in the current climate is not safe or conducive to the success of our member players, nor teams.

We wish everyone health and prosperity, and we look forward to coming back stronger than ever! We hope that you and your families have been staying safe and healthy over the last 9 weeks. As we continue to navigate these unprecedented times, the Las Vegas Ice Center wants to remind you all how much we value the members of our community and know we can — and will — overcome the current issues facing our community together.

While being closed has been necessary to do our part to help reduce the spread of Covid 19, we have taken this opportunity to make significant upgrades to the building and ice surfaces. Below you will find an update on what we have been doing to create an even better experience for each of you when you are here at LVIC as well as our initial plans for reopening and the processes we will be implementing to provide the most safe and healthy environment for everyone.

As we are all missing our time on the ice, seeing our friends, coaches and teammates we know you are anxious to getting back to having fun. Here at the Ice Center we have been working diligently to upgrade the facility over the last 9 weeks. Upon your return to the rink you will be skating on brand new sheets of ice including many repairs to the cooling system for the South rink. We have installed new kick plates on both sheets, cleaned, repaired and updated all boards and glass.

Additionally, locker rooms, the gym and much of the facility have been repainted. The hospitality room has been redesigned to host Pilates, Yoga and meetings. The pro shop has been remerchandised for a more pleasant and easier shopping experience along with other upgrades throughout the building. The upgrades and changes we have made have us anxiously awaiting the opportunity to reopen the facility and welcome you back. At this time, we are hopeful that we will be given the word we can open soon.

We recognize this situation has impacted and challenged each individual and every family in different ways. Our ownership and management have been working tirelessly to determine what the future looks like for our business and develop a reopening plan that allows for the safest and healthiest environment as possible. It was awesome being my first goal in junior hockey and having all of our family there. We were playing Utica and it was late in the third period. I was pressuring the forecheck.
